Plug Assist materials

A wide range of syntactic foams for thermoforming. Easy to machine, the material maintains its shape at elevated temperatures, and therefore can be used to form a wide range of polymers: PS, PE, PVC, APET, CPET. Also, its low density and low dielectric enable this material to be used in other applications, such as aerospace. Available in block, sheet and rod form.

Syntac®350

Syntac® 350 is a white epoxy syntactic foam, designed specifically for fabricating thermoforming plugs and other associated tooling. Reduced warm up times, and virtual elimination of plug sticking or fouling. Syntac® 350 is used to form a wide range of polymer sheet materials, such as PS, PE and PVC. Designed for food and medical packaging.

Syntac®350

Syntac® 450 syntactic foam is the high temperature (450°F/232°C) member of the Syntac® product family. A rigid, high strength epoxy composite, Syntac® 450 maintains its hardness right up to the maximum running temperature and exhibits excellent abrasion resistance. Designed for food and medical packaging, aerospace and automotive sectors. Syntac® 450 is recommended for high temperature runs and for thermoforming thicker sheet material.

Eccolite®Ultra

Eccolite® Ultra is a syntactic thermoplastic foam plug assist material. Eccolite® is tough and robust, but also maintains the unique features and benefits of the other products in the Syntac® family. Unlike nylon-based materials Eccolite® Ultra boasts an exceptionally high temperature characteristic, maintaining its profile over extended operation cycle terms in service temperatures up to 392°F/200°C.  It is ideal for food and medical packaging, aerospace and automotive industries.
